Here is some more background concerning the upcoming Demonstration at the Quebec-US Border: Migrants & Refugees Welcome! Open the Borders! Oppose Racism! (September 30, 2017). This agreement prevents migrants from making refugee claims if they come to Canada from the USA at a regular border crossings. However, refugees can make claims if they make an...

Quebec City: If you’re not anti-fascist, what are you then?

Quebec City: If you’re not anti-fascist, what are you then?

IF YOU’RE NOT ANTI-FASCIST, WHAT ARE YOU THEN? Québec City, September 5, 2017 — Earlier today a group of anti-racist/anti-fascist organizers dropped a series of banners. This action is a part of an ongoing and decentralized struggle against Québec right-wing extremists and white nationalists promoting xenophobic, anti-immigrant and racist views. The banners, displayed prominently along major arteries during the morning commute, read “Si tu n’es pas anti-fasciste, t’es quoi alors?” (Translation: “If you’re not anti-fascist, what are you then?”) Anti-fascism is anti-racist action. We denounce the practices of scapegoating and fear-mongering that targets Muslims and other racialized immigrant groups. Such practices both implicitly and explicitly blame these...

The Non-Status Women’s Collective of Montreal needs your support!

The Non-Status Women’s Collective of Montreal needs your support!

Members of the Non-Status Women’s Collective of Montreal need your support! While we continue to fight for the regularization of all non-status people, some of our members have lost their jobs due to their status and as a result are in situations of emergency, unable to support their children, pay rent, or pay for basic day-to-day survival needs. Meanwhile, other members work very difficult and dangerous jobs at low pay, often below the minimum wage, at irregular hours that keep them in situations of precarity. As a result of these systemic injustices, we reaching out to community members with...
