The event is a powerful moment of community that promotes indigenous culture and spirituality.\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\" href=\"\/en\/statement-of-support-for-indigenous-struggles-and-sovereignty\" target=\"_blank\">Solidarity Across Borders<\/a><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0has been invited to attend this year&#8217;s pow-wow and is organizing a delegation for the 31st. We are currently trying to raise funds to cover entrance and transportation costs so on\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Wednesday, August 27th<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">, in collaboration with\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mobilecinemamontreal?fref=ts\" target=\"_blank\">Cinema Out of the Box<\/a><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">, we will screen\u00a0<\/span><em style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">as a fundraising event in\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Parc Jarry near the pool at 8:30 pm<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">.The screening is free but any donations would be greatly appreciated!Please come and bring friends! The projection functions by a bike generator; you are invited to take a turn during the screening (but only if you want)!<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\n<em>Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance\u00a0<\/em>is a powerful documentary on the 1990 Oka crisis in Kanehsatake.\u00a0Director Alanis Obomsawin spent 78 nerve-wracking days and nights filming the armed stand-off between the Mohawks, the Quebec police and the Canadian army.\u00a0This event will be powered by a bicycle generator and you are invited to pedal as you watch (however no pressure)!
