Colonial & Racist\u00a0John\u00a0A.\u00a0Macdonald\u00a0Monument defaced in Montreal (with video and photos)<\/h3>\n

MONTREAL, November 12, 2017 — On the eve of an important demonstration against hate and racism in Montreal, a group of anonymous local anti-colonial, anti-racist, anti-capitalist activists have successfully defaced the historical monument to Canada\u2019s first Prime Minister,\u00a0John\u00a0A.\u00a0Macdonald, located in downtown at Place du Canada.<\/p>\n

According to Art Public Montreal: \u201cAmong the monuments erected to the memory of\u00a0Macdonald, the one in Montr\u00e9al is the most imposing and elaborate.\u201d The monument, built in 1895, is also now covered in red paint.<\/p>\n
