Justice and dignity for all<\/span><\/p>\n December 6th, 2025, <\/span>2pm<\/span><\/p>\n Livingstone Presbyterian Church <\/span> You are invited to join the People\u2019s Consultation on C-12, an anti-migrant bill that the Liberal government wants to pass in the next few weeks. Let’s come together to listen to the people directly affected by the Bill as part of this grassroots initiative.<\/b><\/p>\n Migrants are under attack in Quebec, Canada, and around the world. As part of this increasingly fascist and xenophobic context, the Carney government has introduced Bill C-12. <\/span><\/p>\n Liberals, who campaigned to distinguish Canada from the USA, are implementing measures that mimic and go beyond anti-migrant policies found in the US.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n If Bill C-12 passes:<\/span><\/p>\n The Bill is fast-tracked and four Parliamentary committee hearings were held within a period of one month. No real effort was put in understanding the impacts of the proposed legislation. A number of civil society groups remained on the wait list for appearance in front of the committees.<\/span><\/p>\n On December 6th 2025, Solidarity Across Borders is holding a popular consultation where voices of those directly affected by the Bill will be featured along with organisations supporting the struggle for migrant justice. \n<\/span>Bill C-12 makes it even more difficult for migrants to obtain permanent resident status in Canada, gives the government the power to cancel entire groups of pending cases, increases deportations, and increases the number of undocumented people in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
