We, undocumented migrants in Quebec, and our allies, call for solidarity with all migrants and demand a mass, inclusive, and ongoing regularization program that grants permanent status to all undocumented and precarious status migrants: Status for all!<\/span><\/p>\n

The news in Quebec, Canada, the United States, and elsewhere in the world is constantly reminding us of the violent attacks by governments on migrants, on their dignity, on their freedom to exist and move.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Canada, 22,100 people were deported in 2025; still more were forced to leave when their temporary status expired. In the same year, 32,800 people whose refugee claims were refused stayed despite a deportation order and became undocumented. Tens of thousands of people who lost their temporary status also became undocumented because they were unable to obtain permanent status or renew their visas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carney tried to convince the world in Davos that Canada was a fortress against Trump’s imperialism and intimidation, but he and his government also implemented anti-migrant measures and strengthened the Safe Third Country Agreement, which will soon prevent anyone coming from the United States from making a refugee claim in Canada. In the face of the violence being perpetrated against migrants and 2SLGBTQ+ people in the United States, the message is clear: Canada prefers to close its doors to those seeking refuge and abandon them to their fate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, humanitarian applications, one of the only ways undocumented people can regularise their status in Canada, are at a standstill, with wait times of up to 50 years. Many provinces, including Quebec, have cancelled programmes allowing temporary workers and students to obtain permanent residence and those who are unable to leave will further increase the number of undocumented migrants. Bill C-12 will further restrict the right to asylum, and access to health services for asylum seekers is being called into question. This avalanche of racist measures shows that, from now on, migrants are not welcome, regardless of their status, and that the most vulnerable among us are condemned to live in fear and oblivion. Canada must reverse these deadly laws and return to its plans for a mass regularisation programme. By announcing a program to regularize the status of 500,000 undocumented migrants, Spain is showing that other political choices are possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

We must fight to end this global and systemic policy of death and deportation. We, undocumented migrants, demand our freedom to move, stay, and return, and our right to live in dignity.<\/span><\/p>\n

We call on all people with legal status to oppose their governments’ anti-migrant measures and rhetoric. We call on all our allies to join our struggle. As our comrades in Minneapolis have shown us, it is by standing together as a community that we can resist fascism. We must not be divided by the false categories of good and bad migrants that governments impose on us. Together and in solidarity, we are strong and proud, and we will no longer allow them to terrorize us.<\/span><\/p>\n

As migrants and allies with our diverse statuses and situations, we must unite in the face of global apartheid and the brutal border system to demand a continuous and inclusive program of full regularization for all migrants without status and in precarious situations, as well as an end to the Safe Third Country Agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n

No one is illegal on unceded lands!<\/span><\/p>\n
