\u00c0 propos\/About Rock Against Racism MTL<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\nRock Against Racism est un mouvement qui a pris de l’ampleur en Angleterre dans les ann\u00e9es 1970s; \u00e9poque o\u00f9 le Parti national britannique fasciste (British National Party) est en pleine expansion, le racisme est partout et les immigrants servent de bouc \u00e9missaires. \u00c0 travers la musique, le mouvement rassemblait des punks et des musiciens reggae dans un esprit d\u2019unit\u00e9 et\u00a0dans l’id\u00e9e de perturber l’ordre \u00e9tabli!<\/p>\n
Dans les ann\u00e9es 90s, les bone-heads n\u00e9o-nazis sont de retour \u00e0 Toronto. Afin de riposter, le Anti-Racist Action (ARA) se cr\u00e9\u00e9 et organise des soir\u00e9es underground l\u00e9gendaires sous le nom de Ska Ska Oi! afin de promouvoir le militantisme, l\u2019\u00e9ducation et le fun.<\/p>\n
Rock Against Racism Montr\u00e9al est une soir\u00e9e mensuelle aux Katacombes qui veut ramener cet esprit dans le 5-1-4. Chaque mois aura lieu une lev\u00e9e de fonds pour un groupe militant diff\u00e9rent. Il y aura des DJs reggae et punk, des bands, des tables d’information avec des livres & des zines et parfois des films. Les organisateur.e.s d\u00e9sirent cr\u00e9er une espace le plus s\u00e9curitaire possible pour tout le monde aka z\u00e9ro tol\u00e9rance pour la bullshit sexiste, homophobe ou raciste.<\/p>\n
\u00c0 la porte, il y a aura une contribution sugg\u00e9r\u00e9e de $6-10 (personne ne sera refus\u00e9 \u00e0 cause d\u2019un manque de cash) et tous les profits seront vers\u00e9s au groupe militant partenaire. Et puisque les bands et les DJ\u2019s joueront b\u00e9n\u00e9volement, supportons-les en achetant leur merch!<\/p>\n

Rock Against Racism was a movement that took the UK by storm in the late 1970s, in a time when the fascist British National Party was on the rise, racism was rampant, and immigrants were being scapegoated. It brought punk rockers and reggae musicians together in unity to kick ass.<\/p>\n
In the 90s in Toronto, neo-nazi boneheads were back again. To fight back, the Anti-Racist Action (ARA) got organized, and held legendary underground Ska Ska Oi parties to promote activism, awareness, and fun.<\/p>\n
Rock Against Racism Montreal is a monthly series at Katacombes to bring a bit of that vibe to the 5-1-4. Each month will be a fundraiser for a different grassroots social justice cause. There will be reggae and punk rock DJ\u2019s, live bands, info kiosks with radical books and zines, and sometimes films.\u00a0The organizers will strive to make an active safer space for everyone, with a zero tolerance policy for sexist, homophobic, racist bullshit.<\/p>\n
