Solidarity, not fear! YES to regularization, NO to Bill C-12!
What: Caravan for regularization and against Bill C-12
When: Thursday, November 13th, 9:40 a.m.
Where: Constituency office of MP Stéphane Guilbault, 1010-800 boulevard de Maisonneuve Est, Montréal, H2L 4L8 (Caravan will then continue to other MP offices)
Undocumented migrants and their allies are organizing a caravan to the constituency offices of federal MPs who are in Montreal this week. The goal of this action is to deliver an open letter demanding the regularization of all undocumented people and the end of Bill C-12.
While the previous federal government had promised an inclusive regularization program, Prime Minister Mark Carney has done an about-face and adopted Trumpian policies by introducing Bill C-12, in addition to introducing several anti-migrant measures in his budget. If passed, Bill C-12 would reduce access to asylum, expand the scope of the Safe Third Country Agreement, and grant the Governor-in-Council arbitrary and broad powers to massively cancel immigration documents without any recourse or appeal.
