with Harsha Walia (activist and author), Tatiana Gomez (a key organiser of the 2005 No One Is Illegal march), Bénédicte Carole Zé (activist involved in Solidarity Across Borders and Immigrant Workers’ Centre Women’s Committee), and Samira Jasmin (activist involved in Solidarity Across Borders)
Join us for an evening of reflection and discussion on the 20th anniversary of the eight-day “March on Ottawa: No One is Illegal” which took place in 2005.
What can we, as a popular movement, learn from this historic march and how it was organised? What is the role of solidarity between people without status and those who have status? What is the importance of building solidarity between migrant and indigenous struggles?
As we join forces against Bill C-2 and prepare for another large mobilisation for status for all this fall, what lessons can we carry into the current context of anti-migrant hatred and violence, closing borders, and rise of fascism around the world?
