CALL FOR AN EMERGENCY RALLY: LET’S FIGHT AGAINST MARK CARNEY’S XENOPHOBIC AND ANTI-MIGRANT BILL
Rally
June 8 at 2 p.m.
Complexe Guy-Favreau, 200, boul René-Lévesque Ouest (Métro Place-d’Armes)
This Sunday, June 8 at 2 p.m., Solidarity Across Borders will be holding a rally to show our opposition to Bill C-2, which plans to:
Prevent migrants from claiming asylum after one year in Canada;
Make it even more difficult for those coming from the United States to apply for refugee status;
Give the government immense and arbitrary power to cancel thousands of permits and reject asylum claims, paving the way for mass deportations;
Eliminate barriers that protect privacy, leading to increased violations of rights.
If Bill C-2 were approved, this government and future governments would exercise unprecedented discretionary power over the lives of migrants, as well as accelerate and increase deportations.
We must fight this racist bill, which will endanger the lives of many migrants and increase surveillance of everyone.
By aligning himself with the United States’ repressive immigration policy, Prime Minister Mark Carney is quick to follow his campaign promises on sacrificing refugees and migrants to satisfy the demands of the Trump government.
We must put an end to the violence against migrants and organize to protect their rights.
No to deportations! No to racist policies that target the most vulnerable!
Status for all! Dignity and freedom for all!
